New Academic Year in Odessa: Support and Remembrance
The new academic year has commenced in the educational institutions of Odessa. This year, it started on September 2, coinciding with the city’s Day of Celebration.
The primary goal of modern educators is to create a supportive environment, to be present for students, to assist them during tough times, to instill a sense of safety and confidence each day, and to lay the groundwork for quality education.
The first lesson titled “Vincit qui meminit (He who remembers, wins)” in the new academic year was dedicated to honoring the memory of the defenders of Ukraine who lost their lives in the struggle for the nation's independence and territorial integrity.
“May the nights be peaceful and the dawns happy... May everyone who longs for Odessa finally return home. May the Lord protect every child, every family, and each defender. May He strengthen our warriors in their sacred mission, and may the people pay due respect to those through whom we can today live, learn, and dream. This carries the highest price. Thousands of lives. Thousands of voices, smiles, and eyes that we must remember. We are starting anew. And that is already a great happiness,” stated Elena Buinevich, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council.
