Arrest of Organizer of Illegal Transport
The authorities apprehended a man transporting six individuals to the unrecognized Transnistria. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been chosen. His actions could lead to a lengthy prison sentence along with the loss of certain rights and property confiscation.
This information was reported by police sources.
During patrols, officers stopped a «KIA Sorento» driven by a 51-year-old from a military recruitment and social support center. Six young men aged between 25 and 30 from different regions of Ukraine were found in the vehicle.
Investigators arriving at the scene discovered that the driver was involved in the illegal transportation of conscripts to the self-proclaimed Transnistrian Moldovan Republic. His services cost between five to eight thousand dollars, depending on clients' financial capabilities. The man was acting in conspiracy with an unidentified person who helped him find clients.
The police seized the vehicle, detained the driver, and sent the passengers for verification to the relevant authorities.
After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators charged the driver under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – organizing illegal transportation of persons across the state border, committed by a group for selfish motives. This crime is punishable by up to nine years of imprisonment with the deprivation of rights to hold specific positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
The court has chosen custody as a preventive measure with the possibility of bail set at 240,000 hryvnias, which he did not utilize.
The authorities are continuing to investigate and identify all individuals involved in this crime. The investigation is being managed by the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
