New Drone Attack in Odesa: Impact and Response
On the night of February 4, the Odesa region was once again targeted by mass drone attacks from the Russian army. The energy infrastructure has been damaged, and there are casualties.
Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa regional administration, reported that the drone strikes have affected the energy infrastructure in the regional center. Emergency power outages are currently in effect in parts of the city. Utility services are working to activate generators to restore critical infrastructure, including heating plants. Additional resilience points are being established beyond the existing 425.
Three individuals sustained shrapnel wounds and fractures; they have been transported to medical facilities in moderate condition. Another person, who was in the business center during the attack, suffered a concussion.
"All relevant services are engaged in eliminating the consequences of the attack. Law enforcement is documenting another crime committed by Russians against the civilian population of Odesa," Kiper stated.
The Odesa regional prosecutor's office indicated that they have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the commission of war crimes (Article 438, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to preliminary findings, Russian armed forces attacked Odesa with drones, likely of the Shahed-136 type.
"Fires broke out at several addresses, which firefighters quickly extinguished. The complexity of firefighting was due to repeated air alarms. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service worked with local residents," reported the SES.
The city authorities announced a temporary suspension of tram No. 18. Buses are currently operating along the route. Tram No. 17 will run between Kulikovo Field and the 6th station of the Great Fountain with a frequency of four units every 8-9 minutes.
