Maintenance of Stormwater Drainage Systems in Odesa

The municipal enterprise «City Roads» in Odesa regularly conducts maintenance work on stormwater drainage systems to keep them in proper condition.

Currently, workers are engaged on the Romanian Canal. Previously, similar work was carried out on the Kuyalnytsky and Shchelaky Canals, as well as at the Buffer Pond.

The Buffer Pond, Romanian Canal, and Kuyalnytsky Canals are specially designed hydraulic structures for draining rainwater, meltwater, and stormwater from the city's streets.

Using specialized equipment, the municipal workers clear the canals and pond of grass, reeds, debris, and silt. Special attention is given to cleaning the most silted areas where drainage from private homes is located.

Regular cleaning of storm drains and sewer collectors across the city is also conducted. Heavy machinery from the «City Roads» enterprise is involved in the cleaning of canals and flushing of sewer collectors: excavators with special attachments, graders, MAZ trucks, and high-pressure hydraulic units based on MAN trucks for flushing bypass pipes.
In case of heavy rainfall, such work is conducted on an emergency basis.
