Museum Transformation During Wartime
The Odesa Art Museum announces two significant events focused on the transformation of museum institutions during wartime. These include the presentation of the initiative «Museum for Change» and a panel discussion titled «Museums in the Center of Change». Both events will take place at 5a Sofiivska Street.
Presentation of «Museum for Change» – May 17
On May 17 at 5:00 PM, the presentation of «Museum for Change: Supporting the Museum Community During Full-Scale War» will occur. Darija D'yakova, the head of the NGO «Museum for Change», will speak about the transformation of the Odesa Art Museum, the evacuation of its collection, international support, and the new responsibilities that museums have taken on in response to wartime challenges.
Panel Discussion «Museums in the Center of Change» – May 18
The following day, May 18 at 4:00 PM, a panel discussion «Museums in the Center of Change» will take place at the museum. Participants will discuss the role of museums in forming inclusive communities, the innovative role of cultural institutions, the influence of Oleksandr Roitburd's vision, and the symbiosis between museums and communities amid war. The discussion will feature scholars Yuliia Tomashevska, Serhii Shevtsov, and Inna Holubovych, with Viktor Levchenko moderating.
