Nikita Sheremet Wins Silver at the 2025 European Championships
On the final competitive day of the 2025 European Swimming Championships, Ukraine was represented in the only final event - the 50-meter freestyle.
Participating in the competition was 18-year-old swimmer Nikita Sheremet, a graduate of the Odesa Sports School «Dynamo», who made his international debut among adults.
In the final, Sheremet clocked a time of 20.81 seconds, breaking the Ukrainian record and also setting a new world junior record. This performance earned him a silver medal at Euro-2025 in short course swimming, tying for second place with Olympic medalist Maxime Grosse (France).
During the European Championships, Nikita set two more Ukrainian junior records: in the 4x50 m relay and in the 100 m freestyle event. Nikita Sheremet brought home the first medal for Ukraine in the 50-meter freestyle at the Euro in over 12 years in short course swimming.
The athlete is coached by trainers Alla Timofeeva and Alexandra Kurbanova.
