Odesa's Collaboration with Germany: New Initiatives and Support

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, met with German politician and head of the Center for Liberal Modernity, Mr. Ralph Fücks, along with Ms. Mariluise Beck, the director for Eastern and Central Europe at the Center.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current security and humanitarian situation in Odesa, the status of internally displaced persons, and cooperation with foreign and international partners.

They also addressed energy issues and preparations for the upcoming heating season.

In collaboration with the Center for Liberal Modernity and the German Agency GIZ, a project for the improvement of the "Against Oblivion" square is underway in Odesa. Due to the full-scale invasion, the project has been put on hold, and the funds provided by German partners have been redirected, with their consent, to meet civil needs: generators, diesel fuel, installation of a solar power station on the roof of a medical facility, uninterruptible power supply units for traffic lights, tactical medical kits, and more.

The agency also delivered humanitarian aid to Odesa, including 2 Mercedes-Benz ambulances, 10 Mitsubishi L200 pickups, 5 Ford Transit minibuses, 2 cargo trucks, a garbage truck, medical kits, and various rescue kits.

Odesa expresses gratitude to its German partners for their ongoing support and assistance.
