Conservation Efforts in Tiligul Lagoon: Recent Discoveries
On April 3, 2025, a joint raid by environmental protection inspectors and border service representatives took place in the Regional Landscape Park «Tiligul» near the village of Tanivka in Odesa region. This information was provided by the State Ecological Inspection of the Southwestern District.
During the inspection, 13 abandoned shrimp nets totaling 11 meters in length were discovered in the Tiligul Lagoon. The illegal fishing gear was confiscated. Thanks to prompt actions, 3 kg of shrimp, 2 kg of goby fish, and 2 kg of atherina were returned to the water.
"Conservationists urge citizens to remain vigilant and report poaching incidents to help protect the unique nature of Odesa region" - the statement reads.
