Beware of Fraud Targeting PrivatBank Cardholders
How the Fraudsters Operate
Cardholders of PrivatBank with the number 044 364 53 20 receive calls from individuals claiming to be from the bank's «security service», stating that there have been several small transactions from the client’s card to the territory of the aggressor country «within the last 20 minutes».
The scammers offer to cancel the transfers, arrange insurance against fraud, and pressure victims to immediately comply with their demands, including recording a voice message and «verifying» card details.
To enhance credibility, they provide a «personal number» that they claim can be found on Privat's website.
In this way, fraudsters attempt to obtain clients' personal information for further illegal actions aimed at stealing funds. Bank employees never ask for the card number, PIN, or CVV code.
Citizens are urged not to disclose personal information under any circumstances and not to carry out financial transactions during calls or messages from unknown individuals.
If you receive a call from scammers, it is crucial to contact the bank's call center and report the offenders. If you have fallen victim to fraud, contact cyber police or other competent authorities.
